Frequently Asked Questions

Is there lye in your soap?

Lye, or sodium hydroxide, is a crucial ingredient in the soap-making process because it facilitates the chemical reaction known as saponification. Saponification is the process by which fats or oils (lipids) combine with an alkaline solution (lye) to produce soap and glycerin. This reaction breaks down the fats into fatty acids and glycerol. There is no lye in the finished product.

Is your soap all natural?

We do have an all natural line of soap. It is either unscented or uses pure essential oils for fragrance.

I have sensitive skin, can I use your soap?

Everyone's skin reacts differently to different ingredients, so it's really hard to answer that without trying it out first. If you have issues with skin irritation I would recommend starting with our unscented bar. I also recommend starting by only using it on your hands until you verify that it will work for your skin type.

What is a clean fragrance oil?

To us a clean fragrance oil is free from the harsh chemicals that are so prevalent in body soaps today. We're committed to only using the best ingredients in our soap, so we vow to never use fragrance oils unless they are 100% phthalate, paraben, and sulfate free.
